The Israel Defense Forces are investigating two separate incidents in southern Lebanon that resulted in casualties on Friday. In the village of Majdal Zoun, two soldiers from the Gefen Battalion were wounded after a grenade was thrown improperly during operational activity. A conscript soldier sustained serious injuries, while a combat officer was moderately wounded.
Both soldiers were evacuated to the Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa for treatment. The Gefen Battalion includes officer cadets from the IDF Officers School operating under the 91st Division. Military investigators are currently examining the soldier's throwing technique and determining if the grenade ricocheted off an object.
