Chelsea Signs Front-of-Shirt Sponsorship Deal With Circle
Chelsea Football Club partnered with Circle Internet Group for a one-year front-of-shirt sponsorship featuring the USDC stablecoin brand.
Chelsea Football Club signed a one-year front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Circle Internet Group, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin. The partnership places the Circle and USDC brands on the shirts of the club's men's, women's, and academy teams, debuting during a match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
This agreement ends a three-year period where the club lacked a full-season main sponsor, instead utilizing short-term arrangements with Infinite Athlete, Damac Properties, and IFS. The deal marks the most high-profile partnership between a Premier League club and a cryptocurrency firm to date.
The announcement comes amid internal club instability, including the appointment of Xabi Alonso as manager and reports that co-owners Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are considering selling their stakes. Todd Kline, Chelsea's President of Commercial, described the partnership as an alignment of global ambitions, while Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated the move connects the company with a global sports community.
