UAE Announces 15 Billion Euro Investment in Greece
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced a 15 billion euro investment in Greece to expand strategic ties in energy, technology, and infrastructure.
Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited Athens from October 21 to 22, 2026, to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Greece. During the visit, the UAE announced a plan to invest an additional 15 billion euros into Greece, significantly expanding a joint initiative launched in May 2022 that was valued at 4 billion euros.
Sheikh Khaled and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held bilateral talks to strengthen a comprehensive strategic partnership. The leaders signed approximately 15 agreements, including a new three-year deal between the sovereign investor Mubadala and the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments. A central outcome of the visit is the creation of a Greek-Emirati joint venture targeting construction projects in the Middle East and North Africa, with a prospective pipeline valued at 10 billion dollars.
The cooperation focuses on combining Emirati capital with Greek technical expertise and European market access. Priority sectors include artificial intelligence, clean energy, digital infrastructure, healthcare, defense technology, and food security. The visit also featured the Investopia Mediterranean - Athens event, which gathered government and business leaders to increase private sector involvement in these emerging industries.
