Sazerac Launches Takeover Bid for Germany's Berentzen Group
Sazerac has offered 5.55 euros per share to acquire the German beverage firm Berentzen to expand its spirits distribution across Europe.
The Louisville-based spirits maker Sazerac has launched a takeover bid for all shares of the German beverage firm Berentzen at 5.55 euros per share. The offer represents a significant premium over Berentzen's Friday closing price of 4.53 euros. Sazerac expects the transaction to close during the fourth quarter of 2026, after which Berentzen is expected to be delisted.
Berentzen's executive and supervisory boards have expressed support for the acquisition, describing it as an "outstanding opportunity" to improve the company's sales capabilities and internationalization. Sazerac CEO Jake Wenz stated that the business combination will enable the company to manufacture and distribute spirits products across Europe and beyond with greater flexibility and pace, including private-label ranges and brands from both companies.
