Evri Deploys Sweeper Vans to Clear UK Parcel Backlogs
Evri is deploying additional drivers and collection routes to resolve widespread delivery disruptions caused by a strategic overhaul of its UK collection network.
Delivery disruptions have caused parcel backlogs at ParcelShops and Post Office branches across the United Kingdom as Evri transitions its collection network from large, centralized depots to smaller local sites. The shift, combined with high parcel volumes, has left some shipments stuck in stores for several days or routed to incorrect locations.
To clear the backlog, the company has deployed approximately 330 sweeper vans, added more than 100 collection routes, and hired extra drivers. The Post Office confirmed that its branch network has been affected by these transitions. Despite the disruptions, Evri maintains that its network is performing well with on-time service levels exceeding 95%, attributing the delays to a small number of localized issues.
These operational challenges follow a period of significant restructuring. Evri was acquired by Apollo Global Management in 2024 and merged with DHL eCommerce UK in 2025. The company is currently executing a £36 million investment program and plans to recruit over 10,000 staff to manage an annual volume of more than one billion parcels. Evri has not provided a specific date for when all disruptions will be fully resolved.
