Priyank Kharge Challenges RSS Over Political Influence and Marches
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge demanded the RSS clarify its status as a cultural or political entity following comments by Mohan Bhagwat on regime change.
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge challenged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to clarify whether it operates as a cultural or political organization. The demand follows comments by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat regarding regime change in countries including France, Albania, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Kharge alleged that the RSS maintains a "fake image" as a cultural entity while frequently intervening in foreign policy, economic, and political matters. He urged the organization to register as a political outfit rather than operating under its current designation.
On the domestic front, Kharge insisted that the RSS must formally seek government permission for its proposed Path Sanchalan route marches in Karnataka. He rejected the organization's practice of simply informing the police, asserting that the RSS is not above the law or the Constitution.
In a separate security matter, Kharge confirmed that authorities are investigating a blast in the Pulikeshi Nagar area of Bengaluru that resulted in minor injuries to two people.
