Democratic strategist James Carville pledged to leave the Democratic Party if socialist streamer Hasan Piker becomes a leading force within the organization. Speaking on The Sunday Briefing, Carville stated he has no intention of remaining in the same party as Piker, claiming an overwhelming majority of Democrats share this perspective.
Carville warned that democratic socialists are dragging the party brand through the mud and suggested the two-party system may face significant stress in the coming months. This friction coincides with a rise in electoral gains for democratic socialists and internal financial struggles for the Democratic National Committee.
Hasan Piker recently asserted that the eventual 2028 nominee will not be pro-Israel and named Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as his preferred candidate for that cycle. Piker has previously faced criticism for his comments regarding the September 11 attacks.
