Azerbaijan Urges Armenia to Reveal Fate of 4,010 Missing

Azerbaijani officials called on Armenia to provide records on missing persons during the 4th Baku Dialogue conference to facilitate lasting peace.

Azerbaijani officials demanded that Armenia provide all available information regarding missing Azerbaijanis during the 4th international conference of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons in Baku. Ali Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, reported that the commission has registered 4,010 missing persons, consisting of 3,228 military personnel and 782 civilians.

Naghiyev stated that determining the fate of the missing is a "crucial condition for lasting peace" and a moral obligation to the families involved. Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev added that Armenia must share records concerning captivity, deaths, and burial sites, citing Article 9 of the Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations as the basis for this humanitarian cooperation.

To support these efforts, Azerbaijan is implementing an Integrated Data Management System. This initiative, developed in cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons, aims to consolidate data and manage confidential submissions to identify the missing.
