OpenAI Recruits Investment Banking Expert for Applied AI Team

OpenAI is hiring an investment banking specialist to develop AI-assisted financial workflows and automation tools in San Francisco.

OpenAI is recruiting a subject matter expert with at least two years of investment banking experience for its Applied AI team in San Francisco. The new hire will define quality standards for AI-assisted investment banking, prototype new workflows, and identify automation opportunities in areas such as financial analysis, valuation, and transaction execution.

This recruitment follows OpenAI's initial steps toward an initial public offering and occurs amid intensifying competition with Anthropic, which recently launched 10 agents to automate Wall Street tasks and introduced the Claude Mythos Preview. The move aligns with broader industry trends, as major financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs invest billions annually into AI technology. JPMorgan Chase spends $18 billion annually on technology and partners with Anthropic's Project Glasswing, while Goldman Sachs spends $6 billion and backs OpenAI's Deployment Company venture.

While OpenAI released GPT-5.5 in April to showcase knowledge work capabilities, the company has paused the wide release of GPT-5.6 following a request from the Trump administration.
