Bluesky Blocks Links to Leaked DHS Employee Records

Bluesky is blocking links to a leaked archive of 41,000 Department of Homeland Security employee records published by Distributed Denial of Secrets.

The social media platform Bluesky is blocking links to a leaked archive containing the records of more than 41,000 United States Department of Homeland Security employees and contractors. The dataset, titled Icepick, includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, and internal group memberships, including some related to surveillance and undercover operations.

Distributed Denial of Secrets, a transparency nonprofit, published the archive after receiving it from a group called the Department of Peace. Bluesky has labeled the links as malicious, citing community guidelines against sharing personal contact information without authorization. To avoid restricting public discussion, the platform is blocking the links themselves rather than removing individual posts.

Other platforms have taken different approaches to the leak. The Grok chatbot on X has directed users to the DDoSecrets website and a searchable version of the dataset. Emma Best, a cofounder of Distributed Denial of Secrets, criticized the restrictions on accessing the publications.
