Meiji Yasuda Commits 200 Billion Yen to Man Group
Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company expanded its partnership with Man Group, committing 200 billion yen to private credit strategies over three years.
Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company and Man Group announced an expanded strategic partnership on October 26, 2026, focusing on the growth of private credit investments. The Japanese insurer will increase its capital commitment to Man Group's investment strategies to 200 billion yen, approximately $1.3 billion, over the next three years.
As part of the agreement, Meiji Yasuda may acquire an equity stake of roughly 5% in Man Group through open market purchases. This potential acquisition is subject to a three-year lock-up period and a standstill restriction that caps total ownership at 19.99%. The two companies will also co-develop investment products specifically for the Japanese market, with Man Group acting as a preferred asset management partner.
The deal builds upon an initial agreement established in February 2025 and aligns with a broader trend of Japanese insurers shifting from traditional fixed-income assets toward higher-yield private credit. Following the announcement, Man Group shares rose between 3.8% and 4.6%.
