Hartford and Erie Lead June 2026 Hottest Housing Markets
Realtor.com ranked Hartford as the most competitive U.S. housing market for June 2026, with Erie following in second place.
The real estate company Realtor.com named Hartford, Connecticut, the most competitive housing market in the United States for the second consecutive month in its June 2026 Hottest Housing Markets ranking. Erie, Pennsylvania, rose to the second spot, where homes sold in a median of 29 days due to high buyer demand and limited listing activity.
The report indicates a regional concentration of strength, as the Northeast and Midwest accounted for all 20 of the hottest markets nationwide. These dynamics persist despite average long-term mortgage rates approaching 6.5% and the Federal Reserve System maintaining unchanged interest rates.
Market analysts note that these conditions create significant barriers for first-time buyers, who made up only 21% of the market last year. In Erie, the combination of affordability and inventory scarcity has driven the city's rise in the national rankings.
