CVC Reports 70,584 Corruption Complaints Against Government Bodies

The Central Vigilance Commission reported that government bodies received 70,584 corruption complaints throughout 2025. According to the commission's annual report, banks and the Railways recorded the highest number of grievances, with 9,933 and 9,381 complaints respectively.

Other sectors with significant complaint volumes included housing and urban affairs with 6,531 cases, local bodies excluding the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi with 4,834 cases, and the coal sector with 4,118 cases.

Chief vigilance officers disposed of 64,905 cases by December 31, 2025, leaving 5,679 complaints under process. The commission stated that investigations are expected to be completed within three months and noted that it conducts periodic reviews to ensure the expeditious disposal of pending cases.
