US Sanctions Indian and Turkish Entities Aiding Iran

The United States Department of the Treasury sanctioned individuals and companies in India and Turkey for facilitating Iranian oil sales and aviation support.

The United States Department of the Treasury issued sanctions on Wednesday against a network of individuals and companies in India and Turkey for providing material support to Iran. These actions are part of the Trump administration's Operation Economic Outcast, a strategy intended to block Iranian oil sales to prevent the funding of its war with the United States.

In India, the Treasury targeted a criminal network led by Suniel Kumar Sharma and Jaspreet Preeti Shahid. The group, which included two other Indian citizens and nine connected entities, provided false flags and certifications to vessels transporting Iranian petroleum for the Iranian military and its proxies. Separately, the U.S. sanctioned Fugo Ground Services Inc, a Turkey-based firm, for its support of the Iranian aviation sector.

The Treasury stated that these broader economic efforts are decimating Iran's economy, contributing to record lows for the rial and inflation rates of approximately 90%.
