Amazon Increases Northwest Louisiana Data Center Investment to $18 Billion
Amazon Web Services is investing $18 billion to build three data centers in Northwest Louisiana, creating 750 permanent jobs and funding $400 million in water infrastructure.
Amazon Web Services is increasing its planned investment in northwest Louisiana to $18 billion, adding $6 billion to develop a third data center campus at the Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport. This new facility joins two other campuses already under construction in Bossier Parish near Benton and Caddo Parish near Blanchard. Together, the three sites are expected to create 750 permanent skilled-trade jobs with annual salaries exceeding $90,000, as well as approximately 2,250 temporary construction jobs.
To support the expansion, the company will invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure and is coordinating with the Southwestern Electric Power Company to ensure the power grid can handle increased demand without raising costs for ratepayers. The first building at the Shreveport campus is scheduled for completion by mid-2027. Amazon has already awarded nearly $500,000 in local community grants and reports that over half of its subcontractor and vendor contracts have gone to local firms.
The Shreveport announcement was previously delayed by a lawsuit from three Caddo Parish residents regarding a Special Use Permit. While the appeal is pending, the project is proceeding. To address community concerns, developer STACK Infrastructure reduced the project's development footprint by 14% to preserve green space.
