Space Startups Secure Record $20.8 Billion in Q3 Funding

Space startups raised a record $20.8 billion in the third quarter, driven by massive investments in orbital infrastructure and a $10 billion Blue Origin round.

Space startups secured a record $20.8 billion in funding during the third quarter, nearly tripling the $7.4 billion invested in the second quarter. According to a report by investment firm Seraphim, the surge resulted from 216 deals primarily targeting launch providers, manufacturing, and orbital infrastructure.

Blue Origin significantly boosted the total with a single $10 billion financing round, though overall investment remained at an all-time high of $10.8 billion even without that deal. Infrastructure-related businesses attracted $16.4 billion, while satellite communications and Earth observation services raised $4 billion. Other major rounds included $1.37 billion for Hadrian and $1 billion for Stoke Space.

North America accounted for approximately 70% of global funding year-to-date, and China reached a quarterly high of $3.3 billion. While private investment surged, publicly traded space companies continued to struggle. Many listed firms remain loss-making as investors favor the scale of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. and new infrastructure ventures.
