Democratic Senate Nominee Julian Beaudion Withdraws From South Dakota Race

Julian Beaudion, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in South Dakota, withdrew from the race on Tuesday. He cited intimidating threats against his family and a devastating house fire as the reasons for his departure, stating that the safety of his family was his priority.

Beaudion's exit leaves independent candidate Brian Bengs as the primary challenger to Republican incumbent Senator Mike Rounds. Despite the shift in the race's dynamics, Beaudion explicitly stated he would not endorse or support Bengs.

This withdrawal is the third instance this year where a Democratic Senate nominee in a red state has exited to clear a path for an independent candidate, following similar events in Idaho and Nebraska.
