Tekskills CEO Warns of AI Accountability Gap in IoT

Punnam Raju Manthena, CEO of Tekskills Inc., warns that the rapid deployment of AI-powered Internet of Things (IoT) systems is outpacing the development of legal governance frameworks. He argues this creates an accountability gap when autonomous systems make critical decisions that result in unintended consequences.

To illustrate these risks, Manthena points to high-profile failures, including IBM's Watson providing erroneous cancer treatment advice and Zillow losing 2,000 jobs and $304 million due to a flawed home-valuation algorithm. He contrasts these failures with successful implementations by BMW and Husqvarna Group using Microsoft Azure.

Manthena recommends that organizations avoid simply following industry trends. Instead, he urges them to prioritize strategic clarity, prototyping, and strict legal compliance to mitigate the financial and legal risks associated with autonomous AI decision-making.
