Coca-Cola Hires Rob Gehring to Lead North American Operations

The Coca-Cola Company hired Rob Gehring to lead its North American operations effective December 1. Gehring joins the company from Monster Beverage, where he served as the head of the Americas business and previously as chief growth officer. He also brings prior experience as the CEO of Swire Coca-Cola USA, a major bottling partner in the western United States.

The appointment comes as the company attempts to maintain growth while U.S. consumers reduce spending due to rising grocery and gas prices. While Coca-Cola reported 7% net sales growth in the second quarter, Monster Beverage saw a 20% increase, largely attributed to innovation in the energy drink sector.

To compete in this environment, Coca-Cola is expanding its product portfolio beyond traditional sodas to include refreshers and "dirty sodas."
