IFM Investors to Acquire Controlling Stake in Associated British Ports

IFM Investors agreed to buy a controlling stake in Associated British Ports for over £10 billion from two Canadian pension funds.

IFM Investors, an Australian infrastructure investor, has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Associated British Ports (ABP), the largest port operator in Britain. The transaction values the business at more than £10 billion and involves the purchase of a combined 63.88% stake from Canadian pension funds CPP Investments and OMERS.

IFM secured the deal through its subsidiary, Global Infraco Haven Bidco, after winning a competitive bidding process against KKR, Apollo, and Gautam Adani. Associated British Ports manages 21 ports across Britain and handles roughly 25% of the country's seaborne trade. The company is currently developing a £500 million floating offshore wind manufacturing and assembly hub at Port Talbot.

The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approvals and mandatory national security filings within the United Kingdom.
