Displaced Palestinians Protest Shelter Shortages in Khan Younis
Displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis protested on October 4 to demand urgent food, medical aid, and winter shelter supplies amid an ongoing Israeli blockade.
Displaced Palestinians in the Fash Farsh area of Khan Younis staged protests on October 4 to demand urgent shelter supplies, food, and medical aid. Residents warned that torn tents and dwindling humanitarian aid leave thousands exposed to rain, cold, and strong winds as winter approaches. They expressed fear that severe weather could lead to tent collapses and deaths, citing similar occurrences in previous years.
Ahmed Hassan Al-Najjar, the overseer of Fash Farsh, reported that 35 displacement camps in the area shelter approximately 40,000 people. These residents currently face critical shortages of food parcels and tarpaulins. The crisis persists amid an ongoing blockade maintained by the Cabinet of Israel.
Palestinian figures indicate that since October 2023, Israeli military operations have killed over 74,000 Palestinians and destroyed 90% of the infrastructure within the Gaza Strip enclave.
