NTSB Investigates Learjet Crash That Killed Nine in Florida

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a Learjet crash near Greenacres, Florida, that killed nine people, including tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson and his family.

A Learjet 60 crashed near Greenacres and Palm Beach, Florida, on November 1, killing all nine people on board. The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. During the flight, the crew reported icing and moderate turbulence before declaring an emergency during a rapid descent of 20,000 feet per minute.

Among the deceased was Adam Robinson, a serial tech entrepreneur and founder of Retention.com, RB2B, and MoltSets, who was traveling with his wife, two children, their nanny, and two friends. Other passengers included Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, co-owners of the Arca Boutique Hotel in Honduras.

The National Transportation Safety Board has recovered portions of the aircraft's left elevator and an engine, confirming that components separated from the jet before impact. However, the cockpit recorder remains missing.

Following the crash, Allan Filgueiras, the father of 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, held a news conference to defend his daughter's professional reputation against online criticism. Filgueiras and flight instructor Chris Kirk noted that the co-pilot had over 1,300 flight hours and full Learjet certification. While the family has retained the law firm Grossman, Yaffa & Cohen, their attorney stated they are not discussing blame while investigators complete their work.
