Ralph Lauren Ties Executive Payouts to AI Metrics

Ralph Lauren replaced sustainability targets with AI literacy and enablement metrics in its executive incentive plan to drive corporate accountability and margins.

The Ralph Lauren Corporation has replaced sustainability and citizenship targets with AI-related metrics in its short-term executive incentive plan. According to a June proxy statement filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, a portion of annual payouts for top leaders is now tied to AI literacy and enablement, alongside traditional metrics such as operational costs and sales growth.

Company reports indicate that strong performance in these AI metrics contributed to maximum executive payouts for fiscal year 2026. A spokesperson for the company stated the new targets reinforce "opportunities for leveraging AI to enhance our work," adding that previous sustainability goals had already been operationalized across the business.

This shift places the apparel company among a small group of firms, including Salesforce and Textron, that prioritize AI adoption over ESG metrics. Currently, only 2% of public companies across all sectors have incorporated AI into their executive incentive structures.
