Sharjah Business Licenses Rise 2 Percent in First Half 2026
The Sharjah Economic Development Department reported 38,169 business licenses issued or renewed in the first half of 2026, driven by growth in new registrations and e-commerce.
The Sharjah Economic Development Department reported a 2% year-on-year increase in business licenses issued and renewed during the first half of 2026. Total licensing activity reached 38,169, comprising 33,572 renewals and 4,597 new licenses. The volume of new licenses rose by 5% compared to the previous year, with commercial licenses constituting the largest share of these new registrations. E-commerce showed significant momentum, as renewed e-commerce licenses grew by 52% to reach 207.
Beyond licensing, the department processed 90,106 commercial inspection transactions and handled 12,429 commercial protection complaints.
Chairman Hamad Ali Abdulla Al Mahmoud attributed the growth to a diversified economy, infrastructure development, and growth-supporting policies. He stated that these results reflect the confidence of the business community and investors in the emirate's economic opportunities, despite regional geopolitical tensions.
