YSRCP Protests Demand CBI Probe Into Andhra Recruitment Scam

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) launched state-wide protests across Andhra Pradesh on August 10, 2026, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into an alleged mega recruitment scam within the District Selection Committee (DSC). The party alleges widespread irregularities, including the leaking of question papers to coaching centers and the bypassing of rules in sports quota recruitment.

Protesters called for the immediate resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, holding him morally responsible for the alleged corruption. The agitation included massive rallies and motor vehicle processions at Assembly constituency headquarters. In Nellore, MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy led a major rally, while Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy staged a sit-in on the Anantapur-Tadipatri highway, claiming teaching jobs were sold.

Government authorities responded by deploying police forces in cities including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Chittoor to block rallies and seize protest vehicles. Law enforcement imposed house arrests on leaders such as Kodali Nani and MLC Bharat, and conducted lathi-charges and arrests of other party members. YSRCP leaders accused the government of using police to suppress democratic dissent and favoring the ruling Telugu Desam Party by denying permits for YSRCP events while allowing TDP programs to proceed.
