CNBC Closes Hong Kong Office and Cancels Live Programs

CNBC is closing its Hong Kong office and canceling five daily live programs as part of a broader organizational restructuring. The network is scrapping Inside India, The China Connection, Europe Early Edition, CNBC Meets, and Built for Billions.

These cuts follow the spin-off of Comcast Corp.'s cable-TV networks into a new entity, Versant Media Group Inc., earlier this year. The reorganization has already led to the reduction of nearly a dozen employees, including the network's website managing editor.

CNBC stated that international editorial coverage will continue through hubs in London, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Beijing. Reporting on Hong Kong and the surrounding region will be integrated into the network's general Asia reporting operations.
