Russia Offers Non-Aggression Pact as US Peace Talks Advance
The Russian government offered a legally binding non-aggression pact to NATO and the EU while stating that peace talks with the United States are nearing a resolution.
The Federal Government of Russia signaled a dual approach to ending the conflict in Ukraine, combining a formal security offer to Europe with high-level negotiations with the United States. In Moscow, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced that Russia is prepared to sign a written, legally binding international document to confirm it has no aggressive plans against NATO and EU countries, provided these commitments are reciprocal.
Despite this offer, Zakharova accused the European Union and the United Kingdom of intentionally prolonging the hostilities for financial motives and betting on the escalation of tensions. She claimed these European backers have no intention of pursuing peace and are instead focused on the funds they transfer to the Kiev regime.
Simultaneously, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov identified December 25, 2025, as a turning point, stating that Moscow and Washington are close to resolving the conflict. Ryabkov noted that a final agreement depends on the political will of the United States, while alleging that Kyiv and EU sponsors are attempting to torpedo the peace process. Zakharova described the U.S. peace plan as a process requiring meticulous and painstaking work to achieve positive results.
