Island Raises $400 Million to Combat Rogue AI Agents

Island raised $400 million in funding led by Evolution Equity Partners to expand its enterprise browser security platform and global operations.

Browser security startup Island raised $400 million in a funding round led by Evolution Equity Partners, bringing the Dallas-based company's valuation to $6.4 billion. The investment follows a surge in corporate demand for security tools capable of defending against rogue artificial intelligence agents, a need highlighted by a recent OpenAI-orchestrated attack on Hugging Face.

Island provides an enterprise browser that enables businesses to monitor and control employee activity to prevent data theft within hybrid work environments. The company currently serves major clients including Pfizer, Chipotle, and American Airlines.

CEO and co-founder Mike Fey plans to use the new capital for research and development and to expand operations into Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. To support this growth, the company intends to increase its workforce from 1,000 to 1,500 employees by mid-2027.
