This recent disruption is distinct from previous production challenges caused by two factory fires at aluminum supplier Novelis late last year, an event from which Farley says the company has fully recovered.
The announcement follows a period of decline for F-Series trucks, which experienced an 11% year-over-year sales drop through August. Ford shares fell approximately 2% in early afternoon trading following the news.
