JD Vance Courts Jewish Republicans After Israel Policy Remarks

Vice President JD Vance is conducting a series of outreach efforts to shore up support among Jewish Republicans and secure a foundation for a potential 2028 presidential run. These actions follow a period of tension sparked by Vance's assertions at the All-In Summit, where he stated that U.S. Middle East foreign policy cannot be "subservient to the State of Israel." He further claimed that President Donald Trump is willing to "part ways" with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when national interests diverge.

As part of this effort, Vance met on Thursday with conservative radio host Sid Rosenberg, a former critic of his positions on Israel. Rosenberg reported leaving the meeting "giddy with optimism," noting that the vice president is "willing to listen." Vance is also planning a Shabbat dinner this week for Jewish Republicans, though the guest list was reduced from 40 people to ensure the conversations remain private.

These engagements follow a September 1 appearance before the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas. During that event, Vance argued that the U.S.-Israel alliance must be justified based on American interests to address growing suspicion among younger generations. He has previously suggested that some members of the Israeli government attempted to hinder negotiations to prolong military campaigns and noted that Israel is losing the public-opinion battle within the United States.
