Pakistan and China signed an agreement to create a Green Channel at the Sost-Khunjerab border to expedite the trade of agricultural and perishable goods.
The Government of Pakistan and the Government of China signed an agreement on October 29, 2026, to operationalize a Green Channel at the Sost-Khunjerab border. The initiative focuses on the trade of agricultural and allied products, establishing a framework for the priority processing and examination of eligible consignments to reduce delays for perishable goods.
The deal was finalized during an online ceremony hosted at the Federal Board of Revenue Headquarters in Islamabad. To ensure security and oversight, the customs administrations of both nations will implement risk-based controls and increase the exchange of information and risk alerts.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Syed Shakeel Shah, Member (C-Ops), while the Chinese delegation was headed by Li Qinghua, Deputy Head of Urumqi Customs and Director of Tashkurgan Customs. This trade facilitation effort follows a period of strong bilateral economic activity, with trade between the two nations exceeding $14 billion in the first half of 2026.
