Mukesh Ambani Completes Leadership Transition at Reliance Industries
Mukesh Ambani announced the near-completion of transferring day-to-day management of Reliance Industries to his children as the company pivots toward digital and clean energy.
During the 49th Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, announced that the transfer of day-to-day corporate management to his children is nearly complete. Akash Ambani now directs digital technology businesses, Isha Ambani leads consumer retail, and Anant Ambani manages the energy portfolio. The three children have completed three years of service on the board.
To support this generational shift, Ambani introduced the 5S Vision framework, which involves mentoring approximately 500 young executives in their 30s and 40s to work alongside his children. While the next generation assumes vertical leadership, Mukesh Ambani will remain chairman and managing director until August 2028. The family stake in the company has grown to 50.6 percent since March 2019.
Ambani outlined five strategic growth pillars: transforming the oil-to-chemicals business, accelerating a new energy ecosystem via solar and batteries, deploying Reliance Intelligence AI infrastructure, scaling bio-energy projects, and exploring underground coal gasification. This strategic pivot aligns with the conglomerate's goal of supporting India's Viksit Bharat objective to become a developed nation by 2047.
