MicroStrategy Increases Bitcoin Holdings to 847,666 BTC
MicroStrategy acquired 1,665 additional Bitcoin and clarified that recent movements of $297 million in assets were routine internal custody shifts rather than sales.
MicroStrategy increased its total Bitcoin holdings to 847,666 BTC after acquiring 1,665 additional coins for $142.7 million between September 21 and 27. This acquisition follows a period of volatility in the company's treasury activity, including four sales totaling $218.4 million earlier in 2026.
Recent blockchain activity showed the company moving 3,568 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $297 million, across 12 transactions over a nine-hour period. The movement initially led traders to speculate that Executive Chairman Michael Saylor was selling holdings.
Analysis from Arkham later confirmed the transfers were routine internal shifts within the custody system of Fidelity Investments. Fidelity, which manages the holdings for MicroStrategy, treats client Bitcoin as interchangeable and frequently reorganizes addresses. The transfers did not involve a sale or a transfer to a cryptocurrency exchange.
