Minbar Ansar al-Rasoul Claims Responsibility for Jaramana Minibus Bombing

A militant group calling itself Minbar Ansar al-Rasoul claimed responsibility for an explosive device planted inside a passenger minibus in Jaramana, a suburb of Damascus, Syria. The blast occurred during rush hour on August 6, 2026, on Al-Rawda Street, a busy commercial thoroughfare. The explosion destroyed the vehicle and caused limited damage to nearby shops.

Casualty reports shifted as the situation evolved. The Ministry of Health of Syria initially reported two deaths and 13 to 14 injuries. However, the ministry corrected the toll on Friday, stating that no one died and 14 people were wounded, three of them critically. Officials explained that the initial fatality report resulted from severed limbs found in the wreckage that were later identified as belonging to living patients undergoing surgery.

Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani condemned the attack, asserting that such violence would not deter the nation's recovery and state-building efforts following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. This incident marks the third bombing in the region in just over a month, posing a challenge to interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa as he attempts to stabilize the country and appeal to minority groups, including the large Druze population in Jaramana.
