RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Backs Education Funding and Youth Protests

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat engaged with students at a youth summit in Mumbai on August 6, 2026, to address grievances following widespread protests over the NEET-UG paper leak. During a session hosted by the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN), Bhagwat defended youth protesters at Jantar Mantar, rejecting claims that they are anti-nationals and describing protest as a legitimate democratic method to reach consensus.

Addressing specific policy demands, Bhagwat supported the allocation of six percent of the national budget to education, calling the demand appropriate. He also stated that reservation policies must continue as long as social discrimination exists, though he warned that such policies should not be used for political contestation. These discussions occurred amid significant political turnover, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

Beyond education, Bhagwat touched upon international relations, suggesting that while government positions during conflicts with China and Pakistan must be upheld, civilian ties should not be permanently severed. He further urged the youth to exercise self-imposed discipline on social media to combat fake content, noting that the honesty of Generation Z and Generation Alpha is a strength for national service.
