China Exports Robotics, AI, and Biotech in New Tech Push

The Government of China is expanding its global technological influence through a new strategic focus on robotics, artificial intelligence, and innovative pharmaceuticals. This initiative follows a previous export push centered on electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar products. These new technologies are gaining international traction by combining advanced capabilities with affordability.

In the robotics sector, Chinese-made surgical robots reached export markets in 49 countries during the first half of 2026, while specialized cleaning robots have been deployed across Australia and the Middle East. Simultaneously, China's open-source AI ecosystem is being adopted by developers in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana to provide legal, business, and educational services.

The biotech sector has also seen significant growth, with out-licensing deals for innovative drugs totaling 110 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2026. This shift marks a transition in China's export strategy toward high-end technology and pharmaceutical innovation.
