Two Superior Town Council Members Resign Before November Election

Two members of the Superior Town Council announced their resignations in August 2026, leaving two partial-term vacancies to be filled in the November election.

Mike Foster will step down effective October 31 after accepting a role as Intergovernmental Affairs Manager with the City of Aurora. Foster stated that continuing to serve on the council while working for the city would present a potential conflict of interest.

Councilmember and mayor pro tem Jason Serbu resigned effective August 11. Serbu indicated that he chose to leave at this time to ensure his seat could be filled by a candidate willing to run for it during the current election cycle, expressing a desire to see a new generation of leaders in local governance.

These resignations add to a crowded ballot for the November election, which already includes three full-term seats and the mayoral seat. Residents intending to run for any of these positions must submit nomination petitions to the town Clerk’s Office by August 24.
