Analyst Proposes XRP Bridge to Address Yen Weakness

Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO proposes using XRP as a neutral bridge asset to reduce structural Japanese yen weakness and mitigate carry-trade risks.

Crypto analyst EGRAG CRYPTO proposed using XRP as a neutral bridge asset to help Japan manage structural yen weakness and the risks tied to the yen carry-trade trap. The proposal suggests that using XRP for international settlements would remove the requirement for Japanese institutions to maintain large, idle foreign-currency balances, a practice known as prefunding, at correspondent banks.

By enabling on-demand liquidity and faster repatriation of investment income and export revenues, the analyst argues Japan could support the yen without relying on aggressive rate hikes that might destabilize the bond market or trigger a disorderly global sell-off. The proposal acknowledges that while XRP could address specific structural weaknesses, it cannot eliminate the fundamental interest-rate differentials that incentivize the carry trade.
