Bill Ackman Criticizes Mayor Mamdani Over New York Rent Freeze

Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, defended the Rent Guidelines Board's 7-1 vote in June to freeze rents, describing the move as a historic victory for tenants. Ackman also targeted the city's energy costs and Mamdani's proposed pied-à-terre tax on second homes, stating that socialism is a disaster.

Ackman advocated for supply-side solutions and capitalist investment to restore economic viability and increase tax revenue, contrasting his approach with the mayor's current regulatory framework.
