INEC Begins PVC Distribution in Kano and Borno States
The Independent National Electoral Commission has started distributing Permanent Voter Cards and displaying voter registers across Kano and Borno states to prepare for upcoming elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has launched the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the display of preliminary voter registers in Kano and Borno states. The exercise allows eligible voters to verify their details and submit claims or objections to correct discrepancies in the register.
In Kano, the process is occurring across 44 local government areas. In Borno, the distribution is taking place across 27 local government areas and will be extended to the ward level to increase voter participation. The Borno operation specifically targets voters who registered in August and December of the previous year.
Commission officials in Borno noted that they are currently awaiting additional cards from the national headquarters to complete the process. Ibrahim Shuaibu, the head of voter education and publicity for the commission in Borno, stated that the display and distribution of PVCs will take place simultaneously across the state's 27 local government areas.
