Intel Grants Rare x86 Technology Access to RosaicLabs Startup
Intel is providing stealth startup RosaicLabs Inc. access to its proprietary Atom processor technology and x86 architecture to develop custom silicon for edge compute and AI.
Intel is transferring its proprietary Atom processor technology and x86 architecture to RosaicLabs Inc., a stealth startup incorporated in Delaware in May 2026. In a rare licensing move, Intel is providing the synthesizable register-transfer level (RTL) code, granting the startup comprehensive exposure to its intellectual property to build custom silicon designs targeting embodied AI and humanoid robotics.
The arrangement is closely linked to the professional relationship between Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and RosaicLabs CEO Amarjit Gill. The two are longtime co-investors who previously collaborated on the founding teams of Nuvia and Rivos. Notably, Rivos was acquired by Meta after outbidding Intel. RosaicLabs is also led by former Rivos finance chief Amit Parikh.
While the deal aligns with Intel's broader strategy to open its foundry and intellectual property to external customers, the personal ties between Tan and Gill have raised governance questions. RosaicLabs currently has no public footprint or official website. According to Delaware filings, the company is authorized to seek a seed funding round of $10 million and allows executives to incur capital expenditures under $5 million without board approval.
