Wynsors World of Shoes Closes 17 United Kingdom Stores

Wynsors World of Shoes is closing 17 stores across the United Kingdom, representing a significant reduction for the budget retailer which operates more than 45 shops nationwide. The company has already initiated closing-down sales with discounts reaching 60% at branches in Gateshead, Rochdale, and Crewe.

The closures follow warnings from private equity owner Modella Capital regarding necessary estate changes and job cuts. Affected locations include Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield, Fleetwood, Burnley, Oldham, Salford, Bury, Rochdale, Hanley, Birkenhead, Bootle, Bacup, Bolton, Gateshead, Sunderland, and Crewe.

This restructuring occurs during a period of instability for Modella Capital, whose other holdings, Claire's and the Original Factory, recently entered administration and closed 291 stores. Additionally, a restructuring plan for TG Jones puts approximately 150 stores at risk of closure. These events mirror a broader trend of high street volatility in the United Kingdom throughout 2026, as multiple major retailers and travel firms face liquidation or administration.
