Israel Expands Syria Incursions and Intensifies Lebanon Strikes

The Military of Israel expanded ground incursions into southern Syria while intensifying air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon despite a July ceasefire agreement.

The Military of Israel expanded its ground operations into southern Syria on October 3, pushing into rural villages within the Quneitra and Daraa provinces to conduct raids, make arrests, and establish military checkpoints. These actions follow a pattern of cross-border activity that intensified after the Syrian government fell in December 2024, with over 1,000 documented incursions recorded through September 2026. Israel currently occupies strategic positions in the region, including Mount Hermon.

Simultaneously, Israeli forces intensified military activity in southern Lebanon. On October 2, warplanes and artillery targeted the town of al-Mansouri, while ground forces used controlled explosions to demolish homes in Beit Lif and Aitaroun. By October 3, the offensive expanded to include heavy fighter jet strikes on al-Nabatieh al-Fawqa and artillery shelling across Wadi al-Salouqi, Doha Kfar Rumman, and the region between Haddatha and Haris.

These operations persist despite a U.S.-mediated Framework Agreement signed in July intended to end the conflict. The Lebanon Health Ministry reports that Israeli aggression has caused 8,953 deaths and 30,649 injuries between October 2023 and September 2026. Recent Israeli media reports indicate five soldiers were wounded during the latest offensive in southern Lebanon.
