Eyal Zamir Places Israel Air Defenses on High Alert

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir placed the military air defense array on increased alert Sunday, July 19, 2026, after missiles or rockets were launched toward the Aqaba area. During a situational assessment at the Judea and Samaria Division, Zamir declared that the military is prepared to immediately return to combat with Iran and is closely monitoring developments within the country.

Zamir emphasized the need for high operational readiness to manage multi-front warfare. He also highlighted ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Judea and Samaria, noting that the IDF is coordinating with the Shin Bet and police to eradicate nationalist crime in the region.

In a separate operational development, the Israel Defense Forces reported that its air force intercepted a drone near the Israel-Syria border. The military is currently reviewing the origin of that launch.
