Ajit Doval Reviews Strategic Security Ties in Hanoi
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with top Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi to deepen defense cooperation and review the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited Hanoi from November 1 to November 2, 2026, to expand strategic security cooperation with Vietnam. During the visit, Doval held high-level talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang, Minister of Public Security Lng Tam Quang, and Minister of Foreign Affairs L Hoi Trung.
The discussions focused on deepening bilateral defense engagement and reviewing the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a diplomatic status established during President To Lam's visit to India in May 2026. The partnership aligns with India's Viksit Bharat 2047 and Vietnam's Vision 2045 goals, guided by a Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030. Key priorities include joint research, co-production of defense technologies, maritime security, and joint exercises.
These meetings follow the fourth India-Vietnam Security Dialogue held in New Delhi in October 2026, where officials addressed counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and economic security. Doval and Vietnamese leaders also began planning commemorations for the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, scheduled for 2027.
