Nintendo Raises Nintendo Switch 2 Prices Across Global Markets
Nintendo is increasing the retail price of the Nintendo Switch 2 globally, citing market conditions and a worldwide RAM shortage driven by AI demand.
Nintendo Co., Ltd. is raising the retail price of the Nintendo Switch 2 across multiple global markets, with a United Kingdom increase from £395.99 to £419.99 taking effect September 1, 2026. This follows price hikes announced in May for the United States, where the cost will rise by $50 to $499.99, Canada, where it will rise by $50 to $679.99, and the Euro zone, where it will increase by €30 to €499.99. In Japan, the price has already risen from 49,980 yen to 59,980 yen.
The company attributed these revisions to changes in market conditions and the global business outlook. Industry data indicates the increases are driven by a global RAM crisis caused by high demand for AI data centers. This component shortage has forced similar price hikes for other gaming hardware, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam Deck.
