FingerMotion and BlueFlare Partner for Alberta Energy Park
FingerMotion, Inc. and BlueFlare Group Holdings Inc. are developing a 500 MW energy park in Alberta to power high-performance computing via on-site generation.
FingerMotion, Inc. has entered a strategic development relationship with BlueFlare Group Holdings Inc. to build a large-scale energy park in east-central Alberta. The project aims to develop up to 500 MW of power in 75 MW phases, utilizing battery storage and on-site natural-gas-fired generation to avoid reliance on the provincial grid.
The facility is designed to support digital infrastructure and high-performance computing customers. As part of the initial rollout, BlueFlare has received several non-binding expressions of interest for Brooks Campus #1, a 9.9 MW permitted campus located in the County of Newell. The first 75 MW phase of the larger park remains subject to land acquisition, local land-use approvals, and authorization from the Alberta Utilities Commission.
Chief Executive Officer Jolie Kahn stated that the company's strategy is to pair near-term capacity at sites like Brooks Campus #1 with a deep pipeline of behind-the-meter power. BlueFlare Chief Executive Officer Landon Ruszkowski noted that the interest in the Brooks campus confirms real demand and emphasized that projects in Alberta succeed when built with surrounding communities. The partners plan to conduct community engagement and consultations with local residents and Indigenous communities before filing regulatory applications.
