Google Raises Pixel 10a Price Amid Industry Chip Costs
Google increased the starting price of the Pixel 10a by $100 as rising memory chip costs drive price hikes across the electronics industry.
Google increased the starting price of its Pixel 10a smartphone by $100, raising the cost of the 128GB base model from $499 to $599 and the 256GB model to $699. The company attributed the hike to rising memory chip costs, a trend currently impacting the broader consumer electronics sector.
This pricing shift follows similar moves by other major manufacturers. Samsung added $100 to the price of most Galaxy S26 models, while Apple increased prices for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, along with select iPad and MacBook models.
The industry-wide increase stems from chip suppliers redirecting production toward high-bandwidth memory for AI servers. This shift has significantly driven up memory and storage prices over the last three quarters. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, described the current component cost environment as unprecedented in his 40-year career.
