Microsoft Azure Revenue Surpasses $100 Billion Amid AI Expansion
Microsoft is investing $175 billion in AI infrastructure as Azure cloud revenue exceeds $100 billion for the first time in fiscal 2026.
Shares of Microsoft gained approximately 8% over the past month, resisting a broader downward trend in artificial intelligence stocks. The company reported that Azure cloud services revenue surpassed $100 billion for the first time in fiscal 2026, representing a 41% year-over-year increase.
To sustain this growth, the company plans to spend $175 billion on capital expenditures this year, focusing primarily on AI infrastructure. Microsoft estimates Azure revenue will grow by 45% in fiscal 2027, noting that customer demand for AI capacity continues to exceed available supply.
Beyond infrastructure, the company is expanding its software strategy with a new Copilot app designed as an operating system for work. The service had 30 million paid subscribers prior to the launch of its latest version. This expansion comes as research from Gardener indicates enterprise companies are prioritizing better outcomes from AI over new software features, and S&P Global estimates global AI infrastructure spending could exceed $1.3 trillion next year.
