Russian Forces Attempt to Breach Kostiantynivka Fortress Belt
Russian troops are using infiltration tactics to penetrate Ukrainian fortifications in Donetsk while claiming territorial gains in Sumy that Ukraine disputes.
Russian forces are advancing toward Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region, attempting to penetrate a heavily fortified fortress belt. Oleksandr Syrskyi, the army chief of Ukraine, reported that Russian troops are employing infiltration tactics and small infantry groups, launching 83 assaults in the sector since the preceding Monday. Syrskyi also confirmed that counter-sabotage measures are underway within the city.
The Russian Defence Ministry claims control over Novodmytrivka, located north of Kostiantynivka, and the village of Myropillia in the Sumy region. However, Ukrainian military sources have dismissed the claim regarding Myropillia as a lie.
These military escalations coincide with stalled U.S.-brokered peace talks, as Russia continues to demand Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
